Grout
The cement-based or epoxy filler between tiles, and often the first part of a floor to show dirt.
Grout fills the joints between tiles on floors, walls and splashbacks. Most grout is cementitious, made from cement, sand and additives, while epoxy grout is resin-based and used where higher stain resistance is needed.
Cementitious grout is porous and stains easily, absorbing dirt, grease, soap scum and spills, and it can discolour or grow mould in wet areas. Sealing grout helps reduce staining and makes it easier to clean. Clean regularly with a suitable grout cleaner, and consider a grout colourant to refresh or re-colour tired, blotchy joints.

Step 1 What finish is your grout?

Your finish
Textured grout
This is the normal surface of grout lines, with a slightly rough, porous texture rather than a manufactured finish. Because grout tends to absorb moisture and stains easily, sealing helps reduce this, suiting a Natural Look, a Colour Enhanced look for richer tone, or a High Gloss coating for extra protection.
