FAQs
Stain removers & problem solvers for stone, tile & grout: common questions
What removes grout haze from tiles and natural stone?
For light grout haze within 10 days of grouting, use Haze Away. For heavy or older haze on acid resistant surfaces, use OxiTreat+ or Oxi Gel+. On natural stone or other acid sensitive surfaces, use MicroScrub instead, since acid formulas can damage those surfaces. Always test in a hidden area first.
How do I remove rust stains from tiles or pavers?
Rust Away is a non-acidic, pH neutral cleaner formulated to help remove rust, iron, bore water and metal oxide stains, and is safe on acid sensitive surfaces. If the rust is sealed in, remove the sealer with Strip-It first, then treat the stain with Rust Away.
How can I reduce efflorescence coming back on grout or pavers?
Eff-Shield+ is a water-repellent, No VOC admixture added to the mixing water of grout, screed, mortar or concrete. It helps reduce the water movement that carries salts to the surface, helping lower the risk of efflorescence and picture framing. It is mixed in during installation, not applied afterwards.
What is the best way to remove oil or coffee stains from natural stone?
Poultice Plus is a pre-mixed, ready to use paste that helps draw out oil, coffee, tea and wine stains from stone, tile and grout. For deeper or older stains, Poultice Powder can be mixed with water or a cleaner for extra strength. Results depend on how long the stain has been there.
How do I make slippery tiles safer without recoating them?
Grip-It T creates a slip resistant micro-texture directly on the glaze of ceramic, porcelain and tessellated tiles. It is not a sealer or coating, so it will not peel. If you are using a coating type sealer instead, Grip-It P Powder can be mixed in for added slip resistance.
How do I remove an old sealer or coating before resealing?
Strip-It is a heavy duty remover for most sealers, coatings, epoxy grout haze and adhesives, formulated to stay wet longer for better results. Aqua-Strip is a lighter, water based option for light sealers, coatings and grout haze. Test first, then reseal with an appropriate product from the sealers range.
